Pressure Cells
The pressure cell is designed to measure total pressure in earth fills and embankments; as well as pressure on the surface of retaining walls, buildings, bridge abutments, and tunnel linings. Pressure Cells are also used to measure stress in mass concrete.
PRESSURE CELL
Concrete Pressure Cell
This is a concrete pressure cell designed to be installed in concrete. This sensor is similar to other units, except having a 600 mm long pinch tube. The purpose of the pinch tube comes when the concrete is cured. To ensure proper contact between the pressure pad and the surrounding concrete, the pinch tube is squeezed to push the fluid into the pressure pad to expand/inflate it.
PRESSURE CELL
Shortcrete Concrete Pressure Cell
This unit is used to monitor the radial and tangential stresses in the shotcrete of tunnels, particularly where the New Austrian Tunneling Method and underground works are being implemented. Measurement of radial and tangential stresses within shotcrete lining is a vital feature of this type of stress cell. The stress cell has a rectangular pressure pad which is constructed with two stainless steel plates, welded around the periphery. The pressure pad and the electron beam welded vibrating wire pressure sensor are connected together by a 6 mm Φ x 165 mm long stainless steel tube. The cavity inside the pressure sensor and the pressure pad is filled with de-aired fluid. A pinch tube ECS-30V or regroutable arrangement ESC-30V-R is provided to inflate the pressure pad after concrete around it has fully cured, to ensure proper contact between pressure pad and surrounding concrete.
PRESSURE CELL
Earth Pressure Cell
This earth pressure cell is used to measure total pressure in the earth fills and embankments. Two stainless steel discs welded around the periphery forms a flexible, circular and flat pressure pad. The pressure pad is connected to an electron beam welded vibrating wire pressure sensor with a 6 mm diameter x 165 mm long stainless tube. The narrow cavity between the pressure pad and the tube is filled with de-aired fluid. Pressure applied by the earth on the capsule is transmitted through the fluid to the vibrating wire pressure sensor, which converts it into an electrical signal.
PRESSURE CELL
Jack Out Pressure Cell
This jack out pressure cell has been designed to measure the stress on base slabs, diaphragm/slurry walls etc. Construction of a jack out pressures cell is a combination of a thin, flexible, round, flat diaphragm and a thick and rigid back plate. The plates are welded around the periphery leaving a very little gap between the two. The electron beam welded vibrating wire pressure sensor has been welded concentrically with the back plate and the cavity inside the sensor is filled with de-aired fluid.
PRESSURE CELL
Soil-rock Interface Pressure Cell
This interface pressure cell is used to measure pressure between soil and rock or concrete interfaces. The pressure cell is designed similarly as other units, except a thicker diaphragm on rock/concrete side of the pressure pad, which minimises point-loading effects.
